Taiwan in the Globalized World: Relevance of Taiwan Studies to\u00a0<\/strong>Social Sciences and Humanities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Organized by: Academia Sinica and Ministry of Education, Taiwan<\/p>\n

\u00a0Sep. 6th<\/sup>\u00a0\u2013 8th<\/sup>, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 3rd World Congress of Taiwan Studies (WCTS) will be held at Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, on September 6th<\/sup>through 8th<\/sup>, 2018. The general theme of this Congress is\u00a0Taiwan in the Globalized World<\/em>, with focus on the relevance of Taiwan Studies to Social Sciences and Humanities.<\/p>\n

There are 20 panels to be planned for paper presentations and discussions, including 16 English panels and 4 Chinese panels. We have completed the initial round of panel planning and now would like to invite submission of papers on the following topics:<\/p>\n

  1. Contributions of Taiwan studies to the making of truly globalized social sciences and humanities<\/li>\n
  2. Taiwan in the new millennium: great transformation<\/li>\n
  3. The 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0regime changes and the future of democracy<\/li>\n
  4. The making of a diverse ethnic society and new civic nationalism<\/li>\n
  5. The Taiwanese Millennials and their political inclinations<\/li>\n
  6. The new faces of art, films, and literature<\/li>\n
  7. Class, ethnicity and gender: inequality and movements<\/li>\n
  8. The dynamics and future of Taiwan\u2019s political future vis-a-vis China<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The text of abstract is supposed to be no more than 600 words and the deadline is November 10th<\/sup>, 2017.<\/p>\n

    Local Accommodation Reimbursement<\/strong><\/p>\n

    For those participants with accepted papers, we will offer the local expense for accommodation for up to 4 nights (from Sep. 5th through Sep. 8th<\/sup>) and meals (breakfast and the daily lunch during the conference period, and welcome and fare well dinners).<\/p>\n
